Recipes for homemade chalk paint have been all over the mom blogs lately...Thanks to Kristin at Pepperpaints.com for the push to make some of our own. I mixed warm water and cornstarch to a paint-like texture and added enough poster paint to color it. Kids of course painted the porch instead of the driveway or sidewalk, but it dries like chalk, then they rinsed it off with their spray bottles

Top photo: I love this organic play that happens in the summer when we don't have to be anywhere...I love just walking into a room and seeing what they've created. A few of my other favorite kid thing this summer: finding them sleeping with no covers and their butts up in the air like babies, long long morning cuddles since only Ema has to go somewhere, having lots of time to play after dinner.

2nd from top: Some goodies from Heini's Cheese "Chalet." These big containers of spices were like 63 cents! All the white stuff is some super cheap corn starch for my next batch of moon sand.

The latest installments in Georgia's series "Self Portraits: Summer '09"

More Holmes county fun! Sweet fairy garden art, Friedlets and Keevyn taking a break from exploring Berlin, kids thought the Jacuzzi in our cabin was the best part of the trip, unbelievable selection of sprinkles at Heini's cheese chalet.
